It pleases me to say East Staffordshire Borough Council will be flying the Red Ensign at Burton Town Hall on Friday 2nd September in honour of Merchant Navy Day on the following day.
This year Merchant Navy Day falls on Saturday 3rd September, allowing communities to show their gratitude to the many seafarers of the UK. East Staffordshire joins several local authorities across the country in flying the Red Ensign, helping raise awareness of the country’s dependence on seafarers.
The Council is proud to support both the Seafarers UK charity and the Merchant Navy Association in spreading a much needed message of gratitude to the country’s many Merchant Navy seafarers.
