Message from the Mayor of East Staffordshire

I moved to Stretton in East Staffordshire in 2002. I’ve been married for 44 years and have 3 children and 2 grandchildren. I’m concerned by the same things you are; How do we make sure there are jobs and houses for our children and how do we look after people when they are sick and/or old?

I became a Councillor in 2013 and have served on the County and the Borough. I have served on Planning, Pensions, Health Scrutiny and Local Plan Development committees. I work with my local community in Shobnall, responding to their concerns and bringing in Officers to improve matters where I can.

I have worked with colleagues in the voluntary sector since 2008 and got to know many of the great people helping to make Burton and Uttoxeter a better place. I want to showcase as many of these organisations as I can during my term of office.

My husband and I both worked in the NHS for many years. I am semi-retired now but still work as a Social Prescriber for Burton Albion Community Trust. I support people to stay connected to society and refer to specialist organisations dealing with finance, housing and other issues. Social Prescribers receive referrals from GPs, DWP, Social Workers and Health Professionals.

I also work as a local Councillor for Shobnall and of course as Mayor representing the Borough. I will do my best to attend any event you invite me to so please don’t hesitate to ask.

My charity for this year is Sarac- Sexual Abuse and Rape Advice Centre. They offer confidential support to anyone who is at risk of or has experienced sexual violence and/or rape at anytime in their lives. The service is provided by qualified and experienced staff. The phone number is 01283 517185

I am very family orientated so in my spare time I visit my mum on the Wirral and have my grandchildren to stay in the holidays. I also like to walk and swim, garden and read fiction.
