The former Mayor of East Staffordshire, Cllr Syed Hussain, raised the St George's Cross at Burton Town Hall on Tuesday 23rd April 2024 to celebrate St George's Day.

Mayor visits Uttoxeter Choral Society

On Saturday 18th November 2023 the former Mayor of East Staffordshire, Cllr Syed Hussain, visited the Uttoxeter Choral Society and witnessed a first class concert celebrating the Magnificat and the Messiah. During the interval, the Mayor met the choir and audience members and encouraged three talented local young soloists.

Remembrance parade held in Burton upon Trent

A remembrance parade, led by Mr Gareth Leckey, Bagpiper and the RAF Cadet drummers, took place in Burton upon Trent, with a remembrance service being held at St Modwen's Parish Church. The Mayor of East Staffordshire, as well as many others, attended this service to pay respects to those soldiers that have given their lives for this country.

Windrush generation presented with Freedom of the Borough status

To celebrate the local Afro-Caribbean community’s contributions to the Borough over the past 75 years, the Mayor of East Staffordshire led an extraordinary Council meeting to present the local Windrush generation and its lineage with Freedom of the Borough status.

Raise the flag for Ukrainian Independence Day

To mark Ukrainian Independence Day, the Council invited Ukrainian guests and sponsors from across the borough to join the Mayor in a flag raising ceremony outside Burton Town Hall.
