East Staffordshire Sport Scholarship Awards

Applications and Nominations are now being invited for the 2019 East Staffordshire Sport Scholarship Awards; the annual awards will take place at the Hilton at St Georges Park on Friday 1st February 2019.

East Staffordshire is proud to boast a wealth of sporting talent and the annual awards provide the ideal opportunity to celebrate the various individuals, teams and club achievements from the past 12 months.

The highlight of the evening will be the awarding of the Hilton at St Georges Park Sports Person of the Year award. Previous winners include, former Burton Albion player Daren Stride, England Netballer Olivia Murphy, GB Swimmer and World Record Holder Adam Peaty and, 2018 winner of the award, GB Track Cyclist and current Maddison World Champion Emily Nelson.

Nominations are also sought for the following categories

  • Young Volunteer of the Year

  • Sports Coach of the Year

  • Disabled Performer of the Year

  • Administrator of the Year

  • Junior Team of the Year in Pursuit of Excellence

  • Senior Team of the Year

  • Junior Sports Person of the Year

  • Sports Un-Sung Hero

Elite Sports performers and Coaches who have achieved in their chosen sport at regional level or above can also apply for Grant Aid to help them with training and competition costs, to assist them in achieving full national and international honours.  

Councillor Colin Whittaker, Deputy Leader for Cultural Services said: "East Staffordshire Borough Council is delighted to recognise the commitment, dedication and effort these individuals and teams have put into their respective sports and clubs over the last twelve months. This event, which is being hosted in such a prestigious venue, is a fitting way in which to do that”.
