ESBC Announces Preferred Bidder for its Leisure Services

East Staffordshire Borough Council has today announced Sports and Leisure Management (SLM) as its preferred bidder for the management of its leisure facilities and services, subject to a mandatory standstill period.

In early 2017, following an appraisal of options, the Council announced that it would develop a procurement strategy to test the market for alternative delivery solutions for its Cultural Services. This procurement process has resulted in SLM being nominated as the preferred bidder to manage the Meadowside Leisure Centre, Uttoxeter Leisure Centre, Shobnall Leisure Complex and Active East Staffs on a 10 year contract. This decision was approved by Full Council on 7th November 2018.

Councillor Colin Whittaker, Deputy Leader for Cultural Services, said: "East Staffordshire Borough Council has agreed to adopt this approach in order to increase operational efficiency and further improve the services available to all of our residents at these already fantastic and much loved facilities".

Further information will be announced following the completion of the standstill period, which is mandatory under the procurement regulations, at which point the award can be confirmed.
