Essential refurbishment works at Burton Customer Service Centre

East Staffordshire Borough Council is reminding residents that the Customer Service Centre (CSC) in Burton upon Trent is to close so that essential refurbishment works can be carried out.

The works have been scheduled to coincide with the annual Statutes Fair, which in previous years has led to the closure of Burton’s Customer Service Centre for the fair’s duration. The CSC will be closed on Friday 28th September to Tuesday 2nd October and will re-open on Wednesday 3rd October at 9:45am.

Refurbishment is essential so that the Council can meet the expected increase in demand that will likely occur following the introduction of the Homelessness Reduction Act and Universal Credit Full Service. The works will also see the installation of a new payment kiosk, where visitors can pay their Council bills without having to wait for their payment to be taken.

Councillor Patricia Ackroyd, Deputy Leader for Housing and Homelessness, said: “Burton’s Customer Service Centre has proven to be very popular since it was opened and it’s important that we continue to maintain high levels of customer service.

“Future-proofing the Customer Service Centre in advance of the expected increase in demand as a result of the Homelessness Reduction Act and Universal Credit Full Service will allow us to provide both a private and comfortable experience for our visitors and a safe and secure working environment for our officers.

“I would like to thank everyone in advance for their patience whilst these works are undertaken.”
