Green Flag Success 2018

The quality of East Staffordshire’s parks and open spaces has once again been recognised, with 4 parks across the borough awarded Green Flag Award status for 2018-19.

Stapenhill Gardens, The Kingfisher Trail, Branston Water Park and Bramshall Park all received the prestigious award. Judges that visited Bramshall Park praised the high level of community involvement as well as the conciseness of the management plan.

The Green Flag Award is a national award that recognises high quality, safe and welcoming parks across the country.

Competition is tough with parks being judged on their welcoming nature, facilities, landscaping, cleanliness, safety and sustainability.

Councillor Colin Whittaker, Deputy Leader for Cultural Services, said: “I’m delighted that the Council has maintained a Green Flag status for four of our parks and open spaces.

“It’s a difficult task winning and maintaining a Green Flag status and I would like to thank the work of the Council staff, ID Verde and all the local volunteers who have all contributed to maintaining these sites.”
