Burton Young Traders Head to National Finals

In June, Burton Market Hall hosted its very first Young Trader Market, as part of a national campaign organised by the National Market Traders Federation, to encourage more young market traders.

Five traders from Burton’s Market Hall went on to trade against fellow young trader winners from across the Midlands, at the regional finals held in Wolverhampton on Saturday 10th August.

Following a busy days trading in Wolverhampton, three young traders from Burton impressed the judging panel enough to be awarded a place at the national Young Market Trader final, to be held in Stratford upon Avon on Friday 30th and Saturday 31st August 2019.

The three successful traders, Paige Bird – Baby Birds Castings, Kimberley Gregory – HiKo Scented Wax and Alice Steel – Alice Louisa Design will compete against other regional winners from across the UK, with the hope of being crowned Young Trader of the Year 2019.

As part of their prize, the five successful traders from Burton, have the opportunity of free trading at Burton Market Hall, to help develop their businesses.

Councillor Ed Barker, Deputy Leader for Cultural Services, said: “I would like to offer my congratulations to the five traders from Burton who reached the regional judging stage and wish the three traders the best of luck in the national final.

“It’s important that the Council plays its part in supporting successful local businesses. By offering free trading as a prize, the Burton Market Hall will provide them with a platform to continue to develop their business and improve the offer to shoppers at the Market Hall.
