Hundreds of job seekers attend latest jobs fair!

The recent jobs fair held at Burton Town Hall welcomed 451 jobseekers from across East Staffordshire, putting them in touch with employers from across the borough.

Employers promoting job and training opportunities were very positive about the event, particularly the organisation and venue. One employer said:

“I just wanted to say thank you for inviting us to yesterday’s event, this was by far the best I have attended and extremely productive.”

East Staffordshire Borough Council works in partnership with Jobcentre Plus, Burton and South Derbyshire College, Support Staffordshire (East Staffordshire Community and Voluntary Service), and Trent & Dove Housing to deliver the Job Opportunity Days. More recently the partnership has welcomed Burton and District Chamber of Commerce to the group.

Cllr Julia Jessel, Deputy Leader for Regeneration, said: “The Job Opportunities Days have been running for nine years and these events continue to go from strength to strength. I am thrilled at how well the last event went.

“The job fairs offer a range of job, training and volunteering opportunities, support towards self-employment and general advice and guidance towards making important career decisions.

“These events offer routes to sustainable employment, assist in improving the quality of life, raising aspirations and provide a better standard of living to local residents”.

The next East Staffordshire jobs fair will be held at Burton and South Derbyshire College on Wednesday 6th March 2019 from 9:30-12:30.  Employers wishing to attend should contact either Jeanette Hines at Job Centre Plus (JEANETTE.HINES@DWP.GSI.GOV.UK) or the Enterprise Team at East Staffordshire Borough Council at enterprise.team@eaststaffsbc.gov.uk (or call 01283 508 625).
