Burton Town Deal Board agrees submission of Towns Fund Programme to Government

The submission of four projects from the Burton Towns Fund programme was agreed this afternoon by the Burton Town Deal and summary documents for the projects have now been submitted to Government.

Councillor George Allen, Leader of the Council, said:

“It’s been two and a half years since Burton was identified as one of the 100 towns included in the Towns Fund programme and so the submission of these projects to Government is a really exciting moment for the town.

“I will be writing to the MP for Burton to encourage her to promote this opportunity to colleagues in Government so that the projects can commence in the coming weeks and months.”

The summary documents were signed by the Chair of the Town Deal Board, Ben Robinson MBE, and the Chief Executive of East Staffordshire Borough Council, on Thursday 24th March 2022 in accordance with the deadline for submission.

The town will now wait to hear from Government on the next steps for the funding and progression of these projects.
