Council Enforces Zero Tolerance on Abuse of Staff

East Staffordshire Borough Council are reminding residents that abuse towards members of staff, whether in person or via the telephone, will not be tolerated. Aggressive behaviour towards members of staff is unacceptable.

Cllr Bernard Peters, Cabinet Member for Communities and Housing Standards said: “There is absolutely no excuse for members of the public to be aggressive when interacting with Council Officers. Members of staff are here to serve the public and always have the public’s best interests at heart. Any abusive behaviour towards staff will be reported and action will be taken.”

The Council have recently been receiving a higher volume of unacceptable, aggressive and disrespectful phone calls from members of the public. Council Officers work tirelessly to serve the public and as such the Council ask that members of the public treat them with respect.
