East Staffordshire Borough Council Submits Levelling Up Fund Round 2 Bid

East Staffordshire Borough Council is pleased to confirm that it has submitted a £20m bid to the second round of the Levelling Up Fund (LUF2) for the following three projects:

•    Revitalising the Market Quarter
•    Creating an Indoor Multi-Activity Action Sports Centre
•    Investing in Bass House

These projects are submitted under the LUF2 themes of ‘Regeneration and Town Centre investment’ and ‘Cultural investment’, with an aim of enhancing cultural and leisure facilities in Burton town centre.

Cllr George Allen, Leader of the Council, said: “This is an exciting moment for the town as we bid for £20m of Government funding to help with the regeneration of Burton for the future.

Investing in the Market area, Bass House and creating a new multi-activity leisure facility will significantly add value to the existing Towns Fund projects and help to transform the High Street for future generations.”

It is expected that the assessment of the bid will take up to three months, with the outcome being confirmed around October/November 2022 and will be taken to a meeting of Full Council for consideration.
