Enforcement Services Work with Police to Issue Several Fixed Penalty Notices

East Staffordshire Borough Council’s Community and Civil Enforcement teams continues to work on addressing a number of antisocial behaviour issues across the Borough.

Two separate cases of fly tipping offences on Mill Stream Lane, Burton upon Trent, have recently been identified and investigated. The Enforcement team are shortly to issue two £400 Fixed Penalty Notices to the perpetrators, which if not paid will lead to prosecution action.

A further four fines were issued to a number of residents after they failed to comply with a request to stop drinking and to surrender their alcohol whilst in a controlled drinking area. Each of the four people have been issued a £75 Fixed Penalty Notice.

One resident was also issued a £75 Fixed Penalty Notice for the improper disposal of a cigarette after having thrown one on the pavement.

Another major issue facing East Staffordshire is that of dog waste. In a bid to combat the issue of irresponsible dog owners and dog waste across the Borough, the Council is introducing dog bag dispensers in a number of local parks and open spaces, contributing to East Staffordshire Borough Council’s effort to reduce litter and other waste across the area.

Cllr Bernard Peters, Cabinet Member for Communities and Housing Standards, said: “While we have seen a rise in fly tipping across the Borough, I am pleased to see our Enforcement teams working both individually and with the police to issue a number of Fixed Penalty Notices for fly tipping and other serious offences.

East Staffordshire Borough Council has continuously worked to tackle such issues throughout the Borough, however, I must remind residents that they will face fines if they are caught committing offences, such as fly tipping, littering, and that involving dog waste.”

Reports of littering and fly tipping can be made to the Council by telephoning 01283 508306, emailing community.civil_enforcement@eaststaffsbc.gov.uk or via the online report form on the East Staffordshire Borough Council webpage.
